Tangere Arts and University of Derby:Face 2 Face

For Fringe 2008 a few entrants were selected by schools in the area and invited to do some work with the children. This was a small pilot scheme intended to promote the Fringe and foster artistic connections with children in the area. This exciting scheme was considered a success by the children and teachers as well as the Fringe performers themselves.

Our aim is to provide enrichment for local schools in line with Government initiatives such as "Wider Opportunities" and also to provide valuable opportunities for entrants to earn some extra money.

The work with schools could involve anything from a full or cut down performance to organising workshops.

It is difficult, often impossible, for schools to work outside normal school hours, so it is essential that you are available weekdays between 9am and 3pm.

It is also important that you are willing to work with the schools during the Festival weeks and possibly a few weeks prior.

The task of the Fringe organisers is to arrange contact between the entrants and those schools who are interested. All arrangements including funding and contracts will be agreed between the entrants and the headteachers.

As an entrant, if you are interested in making a connection with a school during the Fringe please indicate your interest when completing your on-line entry form plus any additional information which will help the school identify you as a candidate.

NB Owing to the time required to co-ordinate with the schools, you must express your interest in this scheme by 20th March 2009. Only the details of entrants who have paid their entry fee by this date will be passed on to the schools.

We very much hope that you will want to take advantage of this innovative idea. If you do indicate that you are interested in the schools link scheme your contact details including phone number will be passed on to the local Buxton schools.
