Fun For All The Family At Fringe Sunday

Press Release: For immediate release June 14th 2007

This year's Fringe Sunday on July 8 is going to be a truly family-friendly affair with live music, street performers and face-painters.

Organiser Martin Bisknell explains: 'We've got some terrific music from big band to rock - and it's all free!'

The event on the opening weekend of the Buxton Festival Fringe has rapidly established itself as a firm favourite with Fringe goers. The action takes place 2-4.30pm on the bandstand in the Pavilion Gardens with drama from Imagine Theatre Co, face painting from Cheeky Chops, belly dancing from the Belly Dance Flames and circus acts from local group Mayhem! to entertain the crowds on the promenade.

Says Martin: 'New acts are signing up all the time but at the moment we have big band music from the King Edward Musical Society Concert Band, rock from new Buxton band Anonymous, acoustic guitar from Hojo and mellow vocals from songwriters Ruby Paul and Stan Graham plus drama from Buxton Community School's Imagine Theatre Company.'

'With such a big Fringe, you can easily find yourself spoilt for choice. Fringe Sunday provides an opportunity to sample several different shows and meet many of the acts wandering about in costume giving out flyers. It's a real anything-can-happen atmosphere!'

The Buxton Festival Fringe kicks off on Friday July 6. Pick up a Fringe programme or see the Fringe website http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk for full details.

From July 6 you can also visit the Fringe Information Desk, open from 10am to 4pm during the Fringe and situated at the entrance to the Pavilion Gardens next to the Opera House. During the dates of the Fringe there is a dedicated phone line for enquiries 01298 214184.
