Buxton Fringe urges Early Booking for 2010

PRESS RELEASE For immediate release Feb 11th 2010

It may seem a long time until July, but the Buxton Festival Fringe is encouraging potential actors, musicians, comedians and exhibitors to think ahead to the summer and book their venue for this year's Fringe.

Although there is plenty of time for entrants to sign up, the early booking period, with entry only costing £45, runs out on 28 February. After that, from 1 to 31 March the entry fee is £65 and from 1 to 24 April it is £80.

Chair Stephanie Billen comments:

"We had a bumper Fringe last year for our 30th anniversary and I'm happy to say we still seem to have the same level of excitement with a good number of entries in already representing a healthy cross-section of the arts. Entering early saves the performers money and helps us by spreading our workload. Plus it's great for our audiences to see the events building up on our website at http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk"

Those wishing to take part in the Fringe should first check out the Fringe's newly updated venues list and venue map on the website, make arrangements with the venue they wish to perform in, and then enter and pay online using the Fringe's easy-to-use online entry system. The exception is if they wish to apply to the managed venue, Underground Venues, in which case they should contact UV directly (thepits@undergroundvenues.co.uk) and they will enter the Fringe on their behalf. The Fringe's other managed venue, Nice Venues at the Marquee, Poole's Cavern is already fully booked this year. Full details of how to enter are available on the website at the Entrants' Info page.

Stephanie adds: 'We have already had a number of entrants for this year's Fringe, including two events that are completely new to the Fringe - a Military Tattoo at the Dome and the Buxton Art Trail at various venues around the town. 2010 looks set to be yet another lively year for the Fringe, making it all the more important to book your venue soon.'
