Feb deadline looms for Fringe entrants!

PRESS RELEASE February 11th 2022 - For immediate release

Fringe performers and exhibitors are being urged to enter this summer’s Buxton’s Fringe as soon as possible in order to take advantage of the specially discounted £50 entry fee available until February 28th.

Events are already building up fast for the festival which runs from July 6 to 24. Musical treats include High Peak Big Band, singer/songwriter Chris Milner-Journeyman, Ordsall Acappella Singers, live music from The Good Ole Boys & Susie and the Bad Habits at the Serpentine Community Garden, singer/storytellers Four Tell, the acclaimed Roth Guitar Duo and Manchester Recorder Orchestra.

In Theatre there is a chance to see everything from Alan Bennett monologues to a ghost story with a difference at St Mary’s Church. Managed venue the Green Man Gallery will be hosting Breathe Out Theatre’s Sylvia Vs the Fascists from the writer of The Riot Act as well as ZAV, about a road-worker’s transformation into millionaire photographer. Meanwhile the Rotunda is back with Above the Title’s First World War drama, Hannah’s Left Hook.

A host of comics offer much-needed laughs whether it is Jewish humour from Henry Churniavsky or musical mirth with popular Angela Bra and friends. Andy Gilbert is also back with his comic poetry masterclass.

Further categories of entertainment throw up all sorts of fun from Morris Dancing to magic and philosophy talks to children’s workshops in the park from award-winning Stone and Water who are also organising the Buxton Pride Picnic.

With many more entries likely to come in before the closing date for the printed programme of April 17, Fringe chair Stephen Walker says: “The healthy level of early entries suggests that the Fringe is coming back to full strength after two Covid-affected years. We can't wait to see what artists and performers have in store for the summer."

Full details on how to enter are available under Take Part on www.buxtonfringe.org.uk. Managed venues may work to earlier deadlines. Events are listed as soon as they enter offering participants useful early publicity. See the website’s What’s On pages or download the free Buxton Fringe App.
