Children’s fun at Buxton Fringe

PRESS RELEASE for immediate release June 2nd 2022

There is so much on offer for children at this year’s Buxton Fringe.

The Children’s Events section includes a chance to meet two Bearded Collies as author Christine Palmer and her canine friends introduce audiences to her beautifully illustrated children’s books in Storytime with Friends of Cowardy Cowardy Custard presented at High Peak Bookstore and Cafe.

Back in Buxton itself, Luke Wilkinson offers his show Wilbur the Worst Explorer at The Green Man Gallery. Nine-year-old Wilbur wants to be a famous explorer but he is going to need audience support if he is going to survive his first overnight expedition!

Award-winning Stone and Water have become a fixture at the Fringe. Families will enjoy making Tiny! Marvels and Wonders with them in the Pavilion Gardens’ Playground.

Parents should be aware that there are plenty of shows outside the Children’s Events category that could be suitable for young people. Fringe performers have put smiley faces against shows that they believe to be family-friendly with examples including The Little Prince and The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe under Theatre. The Fringe’s own promotions including Fringe Sunday and its carnival float are also among those entries with welcoming smiley faces.

For further information, audiences should see www.buxtonfringe.org.uk, download the free Fringe App or visit the friendly Fringe Information Desk in the Pavilion Gardens, open daily from 10-5pm and the place to pick up a printed programme and a cool Fringe badge!

For families on a budget, the Fringe also rounds up all its free shows in Fringe for Free (under What’s On) on the website.

The Fringe wishes to thank High Peak Borough Council, its Fringe Friends and the town’s many Fringe supporters and venues.
