Adventures for Kids at Buxton Festival Fringe

Young people are far from forgotten at this year's Buxton Festival Fringe (July 8-24).

Stone and Water are pursuing an exciting forest theme with free creative workshops and 'enchanted woodland' evenings at Poole's Cavern. Poole's Cavern's surrounds are also the setting for an open-air production of The Wizard of Oz from the REC Drama School, celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

Other highlights include: Funny Wonders and their colourful circus puppets, Kipper TIE with a show inspired by the Brothers Grimm, Freefall Storytelling's round-the-world epic and Bexton Primary's miraculous Bible musical.

Don't just stop at the For Young People section of the programme. Children may well enjoy other Fringe offerings such as shadow theatre from Peak Puppets or Library Theatre Touring Co's Wind in the Willows musical.

There is so much to do at the Fringe. For the second year running, we are involved in the Carnival on July 16, so kids, wave those free orange balloons and sport a Fringe T-shirt or wear orange to show your support!

Fringe Sunday is another must for families with live jazz, previews of acts and, if the sun shines, a lovely al fresco atmosphere. Don't forget to have a good look through the Fringe programme and see you all there!
