Ever wondered what the Buxton Festival Fringe is all about? Well Sunday 13 July is your chance to find out - and it won't cost you a penny!

Just follow the music and the orange Fringe balloons to Buxton's Pavilion Gardens for a free fun packed afternoon of Fringe tasters - 17 days of Fringe in 150 minutes.

Most of the action takes place around The Bandstand - starting at 2pm, with curtain down at 4.30pm - but you are could find people busking all round the Gardens.

So, pack up a picnic and bring the family along to soak up the atmosphere and flavour of Buxton's biggest ever Fringe, with 120 shows on offer over the next couple of weeks.

Acts lined up so far include:

  • Song - Tideswell Male Voice Choir.
  • RLT present One Big Blow - The Brass Band - with no instruments!
  • Stand-up comedian and Fringe favourite - Tam Hinton.
  • Dance - the Belly Dance Flames & Spiltmilk Dance.
  • Comedy - Matthew Collins shares some hints and tips about How To Make Tax-Free Cash From Your Kids AND Shop For Free At Waitrose.
  • Music - from three countries including Glossop based Czech folk group Katus.
  • Drama - Brick Wall Theatre - excerpts from The Freedom Room.
  • Costume characters and puppets.
  • And surprise guest appearances to be announced on the day!

    There's face painting for the young - and even not so young. Or put your own artistic talents to the test and try your hand at plate painting.

    Look out for orange-shirted Fringe members who will be on hand with information about the Festival - and the Fringe desk in The Conservatory will be open all afternoon.
