Buxton Festival Fringe goes live for entries

PRESS RELEASE: For immediate release October 30th 2008

Participants at next year's Buxton Festival Fringe can make their application online from Friday November 7, also the date of the spectacular Fringe30 gala evening at Buxton Opera House celebrating 30 years of the Fringe.

The Fringe website will go live for entries on this date with performers and exhibitors able to find out all the details they need, including advice on venues, on the updated Entrants' Info section. It is so easy to enter the Fringe - you can fill your form in online and also pay online.

Says Fringe chair John Wilson: 'We are hoping for a bumper number of entries to help us celebrate our 30th anniversary next year and the earlier you enter, the cheaper it is. From November 7th 2008 until February 28th 2009, you only pay £45. From March 1st to 31st the entry fee is £65 and from April 1st to 25th , the strict, final deadline for the printed programme, it is £80.'

John adds: 'Now that the Fringe is so big we need to start processing the entries earlier. If you enter early you get your details immediately displayed on the website so it is also a way of publicising yourself for longer. I'm pleased to say that many of our entrants took advantage of the special rates last year.'

The Fringe does not select or censor and entries traditionally come from a wide variety of the arts including music, drama, visual arts, dance, film, comedy and other categories such as workshops, walks and talks.

Would be performers without access to the Internet should contact John Wilson on 01298 70562 for further information.

Next year's Fringe marks the arts festival's 30th anniversary and runs from July 8-26 2009.

Anyone interested in becoming involved behind the scenes or who has an interest in the Fringe is invited to contact or Send message to Info or attend the AGM at the Old Hall Hotel on Tues November 18th at 7.30pm.

Tickets are still available for Fringe30 at the Opera House on Friday November 7, 7.30pm, featuring previous award-winners including George Telfer, Three's Company, Amaretti Chamber Orchestra and others plus a visual arts exhibition open from 6.30pm. Call Buxton Opera House on 0845 127 2190 for tickets.
