Fringe 30

PRESS RELEASE issued by Buxton Opera House: 20 October 2008

For those present at the creation, it's hard to believe that 2009 is Buxton Festival Fringe's 30th Birthday year! To kick off next year's celebrations, Buxton Opera House will provide the perfect setting for a launch night of the celebrations, Fringe 30, taking place on Friday 7 November at 7.30pm.

Featuring a showcase of award-winning Fringe performers, cherry-picked from years gone by, those attending Fringe 30 will enjoy a hotpot of creativity such as music from the Amaretti Chamber Orchestra (performing Grieg's Holberg Suite), world-folk duo Katuš and from the evening's compare, Sam Dunkley. Comedy and drama will be expertly provided by the highly regarded local actor George Telfer (Gielgud: A Knight in the Theatre, Burton's Last Call and Do You Still Throw Spears At Each Other?, Buxton's very own Three's Company (Income Taxi, Plane of Existence and Platformation) and Tam Hinton (The Naked Soul of Kirk Godless). There will be dance from Spiltmilk; roving magical entertainment from Matt 'Lab Monkey' Pritchard (Futurology Live! and Something About Nothing) and on-demand soliloquies from The Shakespeare Jukebox; and an award-winners' visual display specially assembled for the evening, open for viewing an hour before the show.

The show begins at 7.30 pm. Tickets for Fringe 30 are priced at £8 and discounts are available. For further details or to make a booking please call the Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or visit http://www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
