Buxton Fringe Benefits

PRESS RELEASE: For immediate release Jan 20th 2010

Buxton Fringe, the town's summer festival of theatre, music, art, dance and more, is continuing to bring benefits through the winter months. The Fringe is organising a number of events and benefits for those who sign up to be supporters, or 'Friends' of the Fringe.

Friends coordinator Steph Watts said: 'The Fringe has been working with Buxton Film and is now able to offer concessionary rate entry to all films screened by Buxton Film at the Railway Hotel. The winter season of films started at the beginning of January with a showing of Snow Cake and continues through to March with a further five films.' More information on films in the Buxton Film season can be found by visiting http://www.buxtonfilm.org.uk.

The Fringe will also be offering a free film evening for Friends on 17 February when The Edge of Heaven will be shown, with a complimentary drink for all Fringe Friends who attend. The evening is also open to those who would like to join the Friends - if they do they get their ticket cost refunded.

Further Friends events are planned later in the Spring, in the lead-up to the Festival in July. As well as these events, Friends gain discounted entry to all shows during the Fringe Festival. To join the Friends or find out more, visit the Fringe Festival website at http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk and follow the link to the new Friends webpage. Single membership costs just £10, with joint membership costing £15 for joint membership. However, these prices are currently discounted with membership at just £5/ £7.50 - well worth it for filmgoers who will immediately start getting discounted entry to the film season.

Steph adds: 'Membership of the Fringe Friends has increased three-fold in the last 12 months, despite the recession, and the Fringe is aiming to grow its base of local supporters even further during 2010.'
