Makeover for Buxton Fringe website

Buxton Festival Fringe Press Release - 8 October 2010

The Buxton Festival Fringe has responded to public demand and given its website a fresh new update.

Fringe Chair Stephanie Billen says: 'We have listened with interest to comments from visitors to the site and given the whole thing an overhaul, starting with a bright new homepage that ties in with our printed programme, presenting a unified image. We hope the new-look website will provide a welcome way in for anyone interested in the Fringe and its events.'

The changes are not just about the website's visual impact. Online visitors will now find navigating the site much easier, with a more legible toolbar and more obvious log-in point as well as the introduction of a site map and extra links down the side. It will also be much easier to find the Fringe programme online, and the listings found there will be far less indigestible with colour coding for the various arts categories.

Stephanie continues: 'I am hugely grateful to webmaster Dan Osborne and Fringe designer Armelle Hatch for making this relaunch happen. The Fringe has always tried to remain current in its online presence, which also includes Facebook, Twitter and a blog on the Buxton Advertiser's site, and we hope that these changes to our website will prove popular with our existing supporters and bring in some new interest at the same time.'

The Buxton Festival Fringe is one of the largest open access arts festivals in the country and is grateful to its many supporters including its main sponsor The University of Derby Buxton as well as The Osborne Group, High Peak Borough Council, The Old Hall Hotel and the growing band of Fringe Friends.

Next year's Fringe dates have been confirmed as July 6 to 24 with performers being invited to submit entries from December 1. For further information check out the new-look website on http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk
