On Friday 10 June at the Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton Opera House will be presenting an evening in celebration of the very best of the Buxton Festival Fringe. Fringe First, presented in association with the Fringe, reunites some of the Fringe award-nominees and winners from the 2010 Fringe in one great evening showing the variety and talent on offer each year.
The event features artists from all the Fringe's categories. There's music ensemble, Fordante, presenting a selection of popular film and light classical music. Youth group Shadow Syndicate present a preview of their show for this year's Fringe, Fugee by Abi Morgan, while comedian Gerry Howell gives the audience a first look at his latest show Moonshine & Trumpery. The Shakespeare Jukebox will be making their first appearance on stage (instead of outside the Opera House) with a selection of ad hoc scenes from the Bard, while Piff the Magic Dragon will dazzle with a display of close-up illusion. Finally, for those in fear of attack from the undead, there's the hilarious How To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse.
The evening will be compered by popular singer-songwriter Sam Dunkley and will also feature a display of artwork from award-winning artists from Fringe 2010.
As well as enjoying the evening's entertainment, the audience can also pick up their copy of the brand new programme for the 2011 Fringe, which will be officially launched on the night. There will also be opportunities to purchase Fringe merchandise and become a Fringe Friend with ten per cent discounts off Fringe shows.
