All the Town's a Stage for Buxton Fringe

PRESS RELEASE 4th November 2013

Buxton Festival Fringe has had exciting news about venues with a reprieve for one of its much-loved spaces and a brand new cluster of managed venues for 2014.

After fearing that this year would be the last for the Pauper's Pit and the Barrel Room beneath the Old Hall Hotel, they will once again be open for Fringe performances in 2014. Underground Venues will continue to manage these spaces, among the most popular in Buxton for Theatre and Comedy, and the lively Fringe Club will remain one of the best places to meet performers and fellow fringe-goers. UV's Tom Crawshaw says: "We're hugely excited to return for our ninth Fringe, and overjoyed that the atmospheric Old Hall pits will still be a part of it - the perfect complement to our programme at the Pavilion Arts Centre."

Higher Buxton sees a new venture for 2014 as a number of spaces centred on the TRUNK (formerly The Spa Bar) and Level 2 will be operated as a managed venue by The Market Place Buxton. Sian Dudley is behind the venture and is excited about the opportunity to create a new hub of Fringe activity: "I am really looking forward to Buxton Festival Fringe 2014 and would like to thank Level 2 and TRUNK for getting on board. I can't wait for applications to open on 1 December and to welcome audiences and performers to The Market Place Buxton for the very first time."

The Fringe is grateful for everyone that hosts Fringe events each July and is always keen to find new places willing to host events, whether they be restaurants, hotels, church halls or social clubs. If anyone has a space that they would like to make available to Fringe performers, or would like to find out more, they should contact Gemma using Send message to Venues

Buxton Fringe's AGM is at the Old Hall Hotel on Wednesday November 13th at 7pm, anyone keen to become involved behind the scenes or who has an interest in the Fringe is invited come along and find out more about what the Fringe does. This year's AGM also offers the chance to say goodbye to out-going Fringe chair Stephanie Billen and witness the voting in of new officers of the charity.
