April 19 Fringe Deadline Approaches!

PRESS RELEASE 13th April 2015 For immediate release

Buxton Festival Fringe is gearing up to this month's final deadline for performers with a healthy 114 events lined up already!

Says Fringe chair Keith Savage: 'The end-of-March deadline for discounted Fringe entries brought the expected rush.' Now he says there is likely to be another flurry of activity in the run up to Sunday April 19, the final deadline for the printed programme.

This year's Fringe runs from Wednesday 8 to Sunday July 26 and already there is a large and diverse programme with the Music section alone featuring The Ukulele Orchestra, Manchester City Opera, Hallé Cellos, Soweto Spiritual Singers and New Orleans piano from Dale Storr. There is also Comedy galore with Underground Venues shows including a Downton Abbey spoof from Abi Roberts and the return of Danny Pensive.

Shakespeare gets a makeover as Smooth Faced Gentlemen return with their hit, all-female Titus Andronicus, Uproot Theatre offer Midsummer Night’s mayhem and award-winning Japanese dancer Makoto Inoue presents his Clown Macbeth.

Expect a touch of magic with two retellings of Cinderella – The Ash Girl from REC Youth Theatre and Ugly from Orange and Pip – plus brain-busting illusions from award-winners Morgan & West and the crowd-pulling High Peak Magic Society.

With art and poetry trails in Grinlow Woods, a modern day jester (Paolo Ferrari) and children’s favourite Theo the Mouse, there is something for all ages. And it’s not all confined to Buxton with Chelmorton’s festival within a festival just one example of Fringe events in outlying locations.

Details of events are published on the redesigned Fringe website www.buxtonfringe.org.uk. The printed programme will be distributed in Buxton and beyond from the beginning of June. To keep in touch with the latest Fringe news, enjoy the Fringe blog and find the Fringe on Facebook and Twitter. Becoming a Fringe Friend is also a great way to stay in touch, with regular Fringe communications plus 10% off ticket prices - full details on the website.

The Fringe is grateful to all its busy venues around the town including the spectacular Dome, home of the Fringe's sponsor, The University of Derby.
