The Fringe gets Festive

PRESS RELEASE 27th November 2015

On Saturday December 5th the Buxton Festival Fringe celebrates the opening of the 2016 Fringe to entrants with an open-to-all party featuring Derbyshire carol singing at the Green Man Gallery.

The traditional singing of Derbyshire Village Carols has had a revival in recent years and the Buxton Festival Fringe in partnership with the Green Man Gallery is keen to give everyone in Buxton a chance to get to know these amazing songs.

Keith Savage, Chair of the Buxton Festival Fringe explains: “The singing of Derbyshire Village Carols has begun to be re-established across the county thanks largely to the efforts of Ian Russell in Winster. In many towns and villages it is now possible to hear and sing these lovely carols. The Buxton Festival Fringe and Green Man Gallery are delighted to be able to offer the chance for people to come together to enjoy these carols. It is a lovely way to mark the opening of the 37th Buxton Fringe to entrants.”

The evening will begin with an optional open rehearsal led by choir leader Daisy Barker from 4-6pm at the gallery with the main event beginning at 7pm.There will also be light refreshments available throughout the night.

All are welcome. Potential singers and listeners who would like to attend are encouraged to RSVP via Send message to Info
