Fringe Early Booking Deadline Approaches

PRESS RELEASE for immediate release Feb 12 2016

As the early booking deadline approaches for the 37th Buxton Fringe, the line-up is already showing the variety for which the Fringe has become famous.

Musical highlights to date include New Orleans pianist Dale Storr, the acclaimed Sovereign Saxophone Octet, High Peak Orchestra, City of Manchester Opera, the award-winning Peak District String Orchestra, Basin Street Jazz and Blues, Herding Catz Blues Band and trombonist Sam Slide. Other categories are also building up with attractions including Far West Theatre’s award-nominated celebration of Belgian singer Jacques Brel, two events from landscape photographer Charlie Waite and the return of crowd-pleasers such as High Peak Magic Society, Chapel-en-le-Frith Morris Men, Burbage Art Group and Fringe Sunday at the Pavilion Gardens, featuring a free showcase of Fringe performers. Fringe at Five, in which acts busk at the Bandstand, is also making a welcome comeback.

With the Fringe set to be another fantastic success, organisers are keen to state that it is not too late to take advantage of the early booking offer. The discounted entry price of £50 continues until February 29 allowing performers in all categories including comedy, dance, theatre, music, family, spoken word, film and visual arts, to enjoy everything the Fringe has to offer at the most economical price. The final deadline for inclusion in the printed programme is April 17. Leading managed venue Underground Venues is also open for applications.

Keith Savage chair of the Fringe says: "It is always especially exciting to see shows new to Buxton Fringe. I've been talking to some French unicyclists who shower each other with water guns. Not 100% sure that will happen but fingers crossed. Meanwhile it's lovely that so many well-established friends have already signed-up for this July".

Last year Buxton Festival Fringe celebrated its biggest ever event with 174 entries adding up to nearly 600 individual performances while performer and audience expenditure helped bring nearly half a million pounds to the local economy. This year’s event runs from 6th to the 24th July with the printed programme published at the beginning of June and events listed on the website as they come in.
