Calling all artists! Fringe extends competition deadline

PRESS RELEASE: For immediate release Sept 18th 2017

Following 2017’s biggest ever Buxton Fringe, organisers are re-launching their open-to-all art competition for next year’s programme cover offering a new deadline of November 1st.

The new deadline will mean artists have a little more time to come up with ideas and complete their pieces to the highest possible standard.

The Fringe has had some terrific artwork featured on its programme covers including this year’s photograph from designer Tom Mason featuring tiny model figures against a vintage map background. Past covers have also been provided by art students from Fringe sponsor, the University of Derby.

Now organisers are looking to widen the net with a competition aimed at professional and non-professional artists alike and open to all ages. The revised closing deadline for submissions, which must be emailed, is November 1st and there will be a £100 prize for the winning entry. The winning design will also feature on a Fringe flyer available from the beginning of 2018. The Fringe programme has a print run of around 18,000 and is widely distributed.

Full details are available on www.buxtonfringe.org.uk. Fringe chair Keith Savage adds: “It's a few years since we have had an open competition for the Fringe artwork. Given the number of talented and imaginative artists and designers out there I look forward to having some difficult decisions to make.”

Next year's Fringe has been confirmed as July 4-22.
