It's a team effort - comedy at Fringe40

PRESS RELEASE: For immediate release May 21st 2019

A mammoth Comedy category at Buxton’s 40th Fringe is even bigger than it looks thanks to the presence of shows relying on more than one performer.

Representing one of the best bargains of the Fringe Underground’s generally sell-out Barrel of Laughs evenings offer the chance to see a variety of comedians across three fabulous nights. Top UK comedians can also be enjoyed at the Rotunda’s Bustin’ The Bubble comedy nights.

Buxton Fringe Award Winners The Dead Secrets are back with their eagerly awaited comedy show, Ladies Antebellum: A Mighty Fine Adventure, featuring don’t-give-a-damn Southern belles. Mirth of Forth Productions meanwhile offers It Just So Happened, an alternative history show with four panellists putting a very different spin on Buxton’s past.

Cast Vs Crew from the Foolish Bandits trio is a fast-paced improv contest relying on audience’s suggestions of fairy tales ripe for subversion. And Spirit of the Fringe Award Winner Mike Raffone returns with a cast of thousands - ie the audience - in his hilarious participation show, Brain Rinse.

Adds Fringe chair Keith Savage: “When you look around you it would be easy to get depressed by what you see. Laughter can get you through the day and give you the strength to carry on. Let’s hope for plenty of laughs this summer.”

There are plenty more Comedy treats at Fringe40. For further information see the printed programme, www.buxtonfringe.org.uk or the new Buxton Fringe App.

The Fringe wishes to thank its sponsor The University of Derby as well as financial supporters The Trevor Osborne Charitable Trust and High Peak Borough Council, its Fringe Friends and the town’s many Fringe supporters and venues.
