Could you design next year’s Buxton Fringe programme cover?

PRESS RELEASE For immediate release – November 4th 2021

Following this summer’s successful Fringe, organisers are already planning for next July’s eagerly anticipated 2022 event and have announced an open-to-all art competition to create the programme cover.

The Fringe has a reputation for spectacular covers with 2021’s programme guide featuring a lively graphic design by student Hannah Webb inspired by the Fringe’s exciting and diverse performers.

The contest is open to amateur and professional artists of all ages with the design to be featured on tens of thousands of Fringe programmes as well as being publicised on the Fringe website, the Fringe flyer, on badges, in advertising and in the press. There is a £100 prize for the winner! The work of runners up will also be featured on the website.

The Fringe is leaving the choice of subject matter up to the entrants, but this year the Fringe is offering a few hints and guidelines to help artists. Full details are available on https://buxtonfringe.org.uk/artcompetition2022.html. Fringe marketing officer Stephanie Billen says: “We never want to dictate to our artists and we always love to be surprised by them, but to help things along we’ve put together a few handy dos and don’ts so that competition entrants have all the information they need. Above all we are expecting the winning entry to be bold and eye-catching, showcasing the distinctive style of the artist whilst conveying the spirit of the Fringe.”

The competition is open to all and the closing date for the competition is January 10th 2022 in order to give artists plenty of time to submit their best work.
